Mabel

Mabel was a fighter. Never showed pain but just wagged her tail. Recently her legs have been giving her trouble because of the cold air. Today was a said day. We found out that Mabel had broke her leg and we had to put her down. She will be missed.

Less than two weeks away for the Rocky Raccoon 50 miler

Well in less than two weeks I will be attempting my first and probably my last 50 mile race. I just received the official update about the Rocky Raccoon today. Looks like there is about 180 doing the 50 miler and over 200 doing the 100 miler.

I did my last long run on Saturday and was glad that I can start to get some rest. I decided to do this race in such a short period of time and had planned on racing with Bill.

Team Hendryx coached athletes race well

Five months ago we started coaching several groups for the Disney Marathon Weekend, well
this past weekend was the Disney 1/2 marathon, marathon and goofy challenge. All of Team Hendryx coached athletes raced well and we are proud of all of them. Some had PR's, some finished their first 1/2 or marathon which is a big accomplishment and a couple experienced a few problems (cramping and blisters) but they hung in there and finished.

Stay tuned for new Team Hendryx running, triathlon and duathlon programs starting in February.

It's Official

Well I just signed up for the Rocky Raccoon 50 miler which will take place February 7th, 2009 in Huntsville, Texas. I figured if I was going to coach some ultra runners, then I needed to see what they put there bodies through. Should be tough but fun and challenging.

Thank You

A big thanks to the following people: my wife Rene' for driving out to the end of my run and riding her bike back to help me out with fluids, Kevin Johnson for riding along with me through the bad section of the trail and for carrying fluids as well and Mike Russo for running along with me for the last 9 miles of my run.

Information about run:
Point to point
Not many bathrooms along the way
Not many water fountains along the way
Hilly
Ran through a section that I wouldn't want to run by myself
I am sure Mike Russo has a few things to say as well (he found a bullet on the ground)
Had to cross a train crossing and a train was coming

Oh, on our way home Rene' and I watched a older gentleman fall off his bike and I got out of the car to help him. He was scrapped up pretty good. You could tell the man was shakened up. We cleaned him up and applied bandages. I actually walked back towards the trail head with him to make sure that he got back to his friend safely.
